Distinguished Seattle Area Curator, Lele Barnett, Joins Award-Winning Firm NINE dot ARTS
Building on past art advising experience with corporations like Microsoft and Facebook, Barnett will lead curatorial efforts for NINE dot ARTS’ West Coast projects.
Today, NINE dot ARTS, a nationally recognized, award-winning art consulting and curating firm, announced the addition of Seattle-based curator Lele Barnett to its team. Barnett will spearhead projects from the company’s new West Coast office, working with local clients such as Lake Union Partners, MainStreet Property Group and LMC.
“NINE dot ARTS is thrilled to welcome Lele to our team. With over 20 years of experience in the art world, Lele has an incredible portfolio of site-responsive art installations for major corporations, public spaces, and private entities,” said NINE dot ARTS CEO and co-founder Martha Weidmann. “Her unique understanding of the use of technology and interactive media in art curation will be invaluable to our clientele, as well as her ability to identify fine art trends that support emerging and underrepresented artists.”
Among countless private clients, Barnett has led creative initiatives for Facebook Open Arts, Washington State Arts Commission, and Microsoft Art Collection. One of her most recent campaigns includes commissioning 360 degree augmented reality artworks in collaboration with Facebook Messenger, underscoring her passion for promoting new media practices.
“I’m excited to join the NINE dot ARTS team and be part of their efforts to bring awareness to local creative markets, burgeoning artists and the importance of placemaking,” said Lele Barnett, curator at NINE dot ARTS. “My past experience collaborating with artists and my strong understanding of the greater Seattle area will be a true asset to the work that NINE dot ARTS is executing. In this role, I hope to amplify NINE dot ARTS’ mission to provide artists of all backgrounds with equitable opportunities and solidify the company as a force to be reckoned with across the country.”
As an industry pioneer, Barnett co-founded McLeod Residence, a former destination for art, collaboration and technology. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Art Advisors (APAA), the nation’s only accrediting body for the art curation industry.
The addition of Lele Barnett to the team is a promising step in NINE dot ARTS’ incredible growth and national expansion.
