Job Summary
The Studio Associate is responsible for providing high-quality support as needed to all teams in the Studio, including the Curatorial and Acquisitions teams. This position requires flexibility, time management, and the ability to accept direction and feedback. This position reports directly to our studio and will work from our Denver office, with some remote work flexibility. Advancement opportunities include Associate Curator, Project Coordinator, or Studio Coordinator.
Skills and Qualifications
- 4+ years of work experience, with preference for experience in architecture, interior design, or art-related business
- Proficiency in G Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Calendar)
- Comfort working with and learning new technologies
- Ability to manage a long list of tasks by prioritizing, communicating expectations and status, and working independently
- Proactive in finding ways to support all Studio work
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Friendly and direct communication with colleagues, vendors, and clients
- Knowledgeable and interested in contemporary art, particularly art from emerging artists of traditionally underrepresented backgrounds
- High standards for the work that you produce, striving to continually raise the bar in terms of the quality of work we present to clients
- Support of company-wide diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and access (DEIBA) initiatives through your work in the Studio
Company Responsibilities
The Studio Associate must be comfortable handling a wide variety of tasks in a small business environment. This includes:
Curatorial Support
- Support artist communication, commission timelines, and license agreements
- Build and maintain project schedules as shifts occur
- Provide targeted artist research for specific regions, clients, or projects
- Cultivate artist relationships and support artist engagement strategies
- Prepare client facing materials including RFQ/RFPs for artist calls, visioning and discovery session materials using Mentimeter, art collection updates/summaries and artwork renderings to illustrate scope and scale, to name a few
- Take notes in client meetings
Acquisitions Support
- Assist with art purchasing, shipping, tracking, and storage
- Assist with coordination of project installation as needed, including travel on-site to deliver and organize artworks or otherwise support the installation
- Research vendors such as framers, printers, storage, and art installers for project sites across the country
- Courier artworks to framers and other vendors
- Clean and organize objects for styling installations
- Write copy for and order art labels or other engagement materials
- Assist the Registrar with storage organization, data entry, packing and shipping, artist appointments, and deliveries
- Self-sufficient at travel, with some responsibilities including driving and air travel
Additional Office Support
- Support documentation and intake of NINE dot ARTS’ internal art inventory
- Front desk coverage including answering the door to receive packages and greeting clients
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $55k – $60K, plus company benefits
- Paid time off (begins accruing on first full pay period)
- Flex days (6/year, begin accruing immediately)
