The Story
A new class-A office and retail building in the heart of old Denver, The Circa Building merges historic authenticity with contemporary design and amenities, serving as the ideal place to work, shop, and socialize.
Our team curated three framed origami prints by Bobby Berk titled Independence Series, adding the perfect style and youthfulness to the relaxed office space. Additionally, Sonia Noir’s Halftone Series features six framed paper cuttings that evoke minimalist luxury, framing a seating area as the perfect place to sit and focus.
Perhaps the most notable installation at The Circa Building is Natalie Thedford’s vibrant wall sculpture, Labors of Love, which creates intriguing shadows and dimensions while bringing color and joy to the lobby. The installation consists of ceramic, acrylic, and baltic birch and was inspired by traditional handcraft techniques like sewing, knitting, and smocking that Natalie learned from her grandmother.
“My highly textured surfaces contain enough variability to implicate the slow work of hands as opposed to machines. These multi-layered, dimensional surfaces offer a space with physical depth for more complicated considerations.” said Natalie. “Here, a ceramic quilt, a labor of love, typically made with a soft, flexible material susceptible to deterioration, has been translated into clay. It is delicate while also being incredibly rigid. My work rewards those who slow down to get a closer look. In a culture defined by efficiency and productivity, handcraft techniques can feel like an act of subversion. I’m interested in those objects that we recognize as valuable even when the market doesn’t reflect that value.”
