The Story
At Starling Apartments, art serves as both a reflection of Nashville’s creative energy and a celebration of Germantown’s evolving identity. Located along the Cumberland River Greenway and overlooking the Nashville Sounds’ ballpark, the apartment features a hyper-local art collection with bold murals, tactile materials, and unexpected moments of discovery.

The exterior art program boasts a monumental mural by Ian Lawrence – complemented by a colorful parking garage activation by Tarabella Aversa – which creates a striking landmark moment that’s visible from blocks away. Additional wayfinding continues inside the parking garage where Lawrence’s custom signage and playful trail of birds and footprints animate the visitor journey, carrying people from one space to the next.
Throughout the residential corridors, Adrien Saporiti’s murals assign each floor a signature color, giving every level its own personality. In the lobby and mezzanine, a range of artists including Rianne Aarts, Amanda Joy Brown, Tess Davies, and Suzann Janvrin bring texture and character through fiber works, layered collages, hand-painted murals, and unique materials like recycled records. Together, these works create an atmosphere that feels collected over time rather than curated all at once.

The collection extends into the building’s most social spaces as well. Allison Kunath’s mural energizes the pool and amenity deck, while Holly Chastain’s playful dog run mural adds a sense of whimsy for pet owners. On the seventh floor, residents encounter an evolving mix of artworks in the Sky Lounge and library, surrounded by sweeping views of the baseball field and neighborhood beyond. The result is a collection that celebrates Nashville not through clichés, but through the artists, stories, and creative voices that continue to shape the city today.
